When did you started with the Internet?
Was it already DSL or an 56-Kbits Modem or even lower?
About me:
I don’t remember exactly which year it was, were my dad bought an 56-Kbits Modem.
I think it’s around 1999 (ahh, sounds nostalgic) or at 2000.
At this time we had only one computer in the household. So I used it too.
Got my first email address and such. It was AOL. We used it and it was bad.
The first things that I made on the Internet were very simply:
Check Emails, surf a bit at those AOL sites and after 30 min or less log-out.
At this time I had no chat programs or Games that you could play online.
Later my dad made an new Email. I don’t know the reason why, but now I had two.
But this time it was from MSN. I’m using this email address until today.
At the same year in Egypt – Summer I found the Messenger from MSN. Thanks to my cousin, who was the very first Person in my list, I talked to her and and and.
The Internet consumption have risen too. Now 1 hour or a bit more.
Time passed by. I found amazon to spend almost all my money in Games and later on Anime DVDs.
But I had enough of 36-Kbits. I want more (56-Kbits is just a lie!)!
I wanted DSL to download Anime and such. I want to be fast on the Internet!
2005 my wish finally come true.
I had my first DSL in Egypt. It was only 512kbits, but much more faster than this blah Modem. This was the year were I started to watch Fan-Subs too.
But I had in Germany no luck. I’m living in a country, where is no DSL.
So I had to be patient.
2007 in February I get an UMTS Stick for my Home. It was expensive, but I didn’t care.
The other problems was that I only can make a 5GB Traffic for an month. The next was like a Flat rate (somehow stupid – Vodafo**). At this time I started to play Guild Wars. My first MMORPG (I don’t care if it’s an MMORPG or not).
And finally, finally I got my DSL with 16.000 Kbits last year. I was so happy to be free. Free of slow Internet and to keep an eye to the Traffic.
Now I’m using the Internet daily. For chatting, for Music, for You Tube or what ever!

Hmm… waaay too long ago to remember properly. But we started here also with very slow internet. First on a family computer, also around 1999/2000 and in 2002 afaik on my own computer in my room on my own connection. Om man, if I think back there, my pentium 2 made those modemsounds whenever I connected to the internet.
Short after that we had a switch hub wich went over the pc of my dad, I lost my own connection in my room. So I was always forced to run upstairs, turn the PC of my father on to have internet on my own pc in my room.
2003 we’ve switched providers to something with a faster connection flatrate (Holland was one of the first countries who doesn’t care about traffic limits). from there on I started chatting and visiting communities more often. Made crappy websites that time there too..
2006 or 2007 we decided to upgrade again to 20mbits internet from 2 different providers. 2008 I bought my Samsung Omnia with 3G+ internet and 2009 I’ve paid for my first 20mbits connection myself at where I’m living on my own.
I think that sums it up for me..
